Getting married in Ayr? Do you need a wedding photographer, Ayr? Then I’d love to hear more about your plans. Whether you’re local or visiting Ayrshire for your wedding, this is a brilliant place to celebrate and to photograph.
I’m Ruth, and I run Ruth Charlotte Photography. I’m a wedding photographer based nearby, and Ayr is one of my favourite towns to work in. I know the light, the coast, the venues, and the rhythm of a wedding day. My job is to make one part of that day feel a bit easier.

My style is fun, vibrant and people-focused. I work quietly, looking out for the real moments that will matter to you later. The build-up, the emotion, the laughter in the middle of the ceremony. The things you didn’t see happening around you. That’s the story I tell through your photographs.
Ayr is a great place to get married. You’ve got the beach, the green spaces, and a wide mix of local venues. You can make it feel as classic, fun or as laid-back as you like.
For civil ceremonies, Ayr Town Hall is a lovely spot with great natural light and a central location. Nearby venues like Western House Hotel, Enterkine House, and Lochgreen House are also popular with couples looking for something elegant and relaxed.
Wider Ayrshire also offers some fantastic venues within easy reach. Brig o’ Doon in Alloway is always a favourite for couples who want to add a touch of tradition, and the gardens there are lovely for portraits. Lochside House Hotel near New Cumnock offers breathtaking views and a stylish, modern setting that works beautifully in every season. If you’re after something rustic and full of character, Roodlea Barn near Coylton and Dalduff Farm just outside Maybole both bring a relaxed, countryside charm that’s ideal for a more informal day.
Harelaw Farm, Boswell Estate, and even newer venues like those around Stair and Mauchline are also seeing more couples choosing them for the flexibility, space, and friendly teams they offer. Each place has its own personality, and I’ll work with you to make sure the photography reflects what makes your venue special. I recently done a wedding at Sorn Castle in East Ayrshire and I loved this venue. Stunning building with a fantastic marque.
What I enjoy most about photographing weddings in and around Ayr is how varied the settings can be. You’ve got beach views, woodland walks, formal gardens and historic buildings all within a short distance of each other. It makes for a really flexible day, and we can plan your photography around what suits your style and timeline.

I know being photographed isn’t something most people are used to. It can feel a bit strange at first, and that’s completely normal. You don’t need to perform or pose in a way that doesn’t feel like you. My job is to take the pressure off and make sure you are having fun.
I work in a calm and quiet way, giving gentle direction when needed but mostly letting things unfold naturally. Whether I’m photographing the two of you alone or moments between your guests, I aim to blend in rather than take over.
You’ll get a mix of documentary-style coverage, natural couple portraits, and fun upbeat images. And of course, emotional images that reflect the feeling of your day. Most couples tell me they were surprised by how easy and fun it all felt, and that the photos ended up being one of their favourite parts of the experience.
I offer a few flexible packages depending on how much coverage you need. Whether you’re planning a short town hall ceremony or a full-day celebration, we’ll find an option that fits your plans.
Every package includes:
You can find full details over on my wedding packages page, where you can also download my brochure with pricing and package comparisons. If you’re not sure what kind of coverage is right for you, I’m always happy to talk it through.
My portfolio on that page also shows real weddings I’ve photographed across Ayrshire, so you can see how I work and what you can expect from me.
Ayr has no shortage of lovely spots for portraits and relaxed moments throughout the day. Whether we’re staying at your venue or stepping out for some fresh air, I’ll help you make the most of what’s nearby.
A few locations that always work well:
If your venue is a little further out, we can still make space for quick couple portraits in beautiful places nearby. Dalduff Farm has a lovely open backdrop for golden hour shots. Brig o’ Doon’s gardens are full of colour in spring and summer, and Roodlea Barn gives you room to sneak off without being too far from your guests.
We don’t need to go far or spend ages away from the party. Most portrait sessions take around 15 to 20 minutes, and we can plan for one or two short sessions depending on the light and your timeline.

Weddings are full of choices, and finding the right photographer is a big one. It’s not just about how the photos look. It’s about having someone with you who understands how the day feels and who can be there without ever making it about them. It’s important you click with your photographer so you feel nice and relaxed in their company.
If you’re getting married in Ayr or anywhere nearby and you want natural, fun & honest photography that feels personal to you, I’d love to hear from you. You can download my brochure to explore the packages, or send me a message to check availability and ask any questions.
I’d be delighted to hear what you’re planning and to help capture it in a way that feels relaxed, thoughtful and true to who you are.
