There’s something special about North Ayrshire. From its dramatic coastline to its tucked-away countryside venues, this part of Scotland has so much to offer if you’re planning your wedding here. If you’re getting married in North Ayrshire and looking for a local photographer who knows the area, you’re in the right place.
I’m Ruth, and I run Ruth Charlotte Photography. I’m based right here in Ayrshire, and I’ve worked with couples across the coast and countryside. I know where to find the best light, how to bring out the character of each venue, and how to help you feel at ease in front of the camera so the whole experience feels like part of the celebration.
Whether you’re planning a beachside ceremony, a barn wedding in the hills, or something more traditional in town, I’d love to help you capture it all.

The way I photograph weddings is all about keeping things relaxed, fun, and easy-going. I’m not interested in staging every moment or making you feel like you’re stuck in a photoshoot. Your wedding day should feel like your own, full of laughter, happy tears, and time spent with the people you love. That’s what I aim to capture.
When you look through your photos later, I want you to be able to feel the day all over again. That means candid moments, real reactions, and natural photos that reflect who you are as a couple. Whether that’s a teary-eyed look during your vows or a tipsy dance with your gran, those are the moments you’ll want to keep.
I also make sure your guests enjoy the experience too. No one wants to spend ages standing around for group shots. We’ll get what you need quickly and with no fuss so everyone can get back to the party, including you.
And if you’re feeling nervous about being in front of the camera, I’ve got you. I’ll guide you gently where needed, but most of the time I’ll just be there in the background capturing the good stuff as it unfolds.

North Ayrshire is packed with fantastic wedding venues, each offering something a little different. Whether you’re dreaming of sea views, rustic charm, or hotel elegance, there’s something here for everyone.
You’ll find options that suit every style of celebration. Want a relaxed beach wedding with coastal views? Venues like Seamill Hydro and The Waterside make that easy. Looking for a barn venue with a countryside feel? Blackshaw Barns, which just opened in summer 2025, is already becoming a favourite with couples who want that blend of rustic style and modern touches. If you’re more drawn to a classic hotel wedding, places like Brisbane House in Largs and The Riverside Lodge near Irvine offer great flexibility and friendly teams who’ll help the day go smoothly.
The variety in North Ayrshire means you’re never short of options. Whether you’re local or planning to bring guests from further afield, it’s also an easy place to reach with good transport links by road and rail. And with so many coastal and countryside views on offer, it’s a brilliant location for wedding photos.

I offer several photography packages to suit different wedding plans. Whether you’re keeping things simple with a small ceremony or going all out with a full-day celebration, there’s an option that will suit what you need.
Every package includes a professionally edited gallery of high-resolution images that you can download, share, and treasure. You’ll be able to relive every part of your wedding, from the nerves and excitement during prep to the last dance and everything in between.

One of the things I love about working in North Ayrshire is how many great photo locations are just a short drive or walk from most venues. If you’re getting married near the coast, we can head down to the beach for a few relaxed portraits. Places like South and North Beach in Ardrossan / West Kilbride or the promenade in Largs work brilliantly in all seasons. They’re ideal for couples who want a quick breather during the day or a chance to sneak away for a few minutes together.
If your venue is more inland, we can explore nearby river paths, rolling fields, or even quiet woodland areas. There are lots of little gems tucked away near West Kilbride, Kilwinning, Beith, and Dalry — places where you can feel like you’re the only two people in the world, even just for a few minutes.
And if you’d prefer to stay close to your venue, that’s totally fine too. Whether it’s the hotel gardens, a barn doorway, or a simple space that feels like yours, I’ll help you make the most of it. The best images are often the ones that feel effortless. Not staged or posed, but full of connection and meaning.
If you’re planning a wedding anywhere in North Ayrshire and you want photos that feel real, relaxed, and full of personality, I’d love to hear what you’ve got planned.
You can download my brochure to explore the different photography packages or just get in touch if you’d like to check availability or ask a few questions. I’ll reply personally and we can take it from there.
Whether you’re saying your vows in a coastal hotel, dancing in a barn with your friends, or walking hand in hand through a beach sunset, I’d love to help you tell that story. And I’ll make sure you get photos you love for years to come.
